It came to my attention that yesterday was #GlacierDay, but I was recovering from work, and just made a mental note to check my glacier images! #MountHood has a number of large glaciers, this is part of Eliot Glacier on the NE side! #📷 #hiking
A daytime photo of a rocky slope with a couple people at it's crest gazing at a large glacier slope of Mount Hood Oregon in front of them. The rocky slope they are on is covered with stones, and bigger boulders. There are tufts of small green plants and some flowers there too. The people stand near one another, one in hiking shorts, and a green backpack, the other person to their left is standing slightly lower, and is wearing dark clothing. In front of them is an impressive face of a glacier (Eliot Glacier on Mt Hood's NE side) The glacier is mainly white ice with various other colorations where older ice layers are exposed in crevasses, and other places from wind blown ash that covers exposed areas o f the mountain. There are also numerous blocks and boulders of ice that have tumbled down to glacier. The texture of the glacier is influenced by the terrain it is flowing over, which causes creases, folds, crevasses, ridges, where the ice surface flexes.

Looking for sketching subjects, I started to seek out sculptures of angels and enjoyed using them as models. 1/2
An orange butterfly settles on the chest of an angel statue. Its eyes are closed solemnly, and the left arm is broken off while the right is clutching a bouquet of flowers. Green and orange wildflowers dot the slope leading up to the statue, and strands of ivy creep up the angel's robes. A cross-shaped gravestone is partially obscured by the angel. Another rounded headstone sits at the right edge of the frame. Otherwise, the background is filled with greenery that gives way to loosely rendered trees and a peek of pale blue sky.

A black and white photograph of the light caressing the understory of a forest, the dark depths of its silent sentinels, and trail through it. The bottom 3/5ths or so of the image is filled by the sun dappled trail, which is softly out of focus, while the trees fall into vaguenesses behind that highlighted slice of understory vegetation. It’s nothing much, but also so very much.
