South Africa is always featured somehow 😭
This doesn't seem to be an idle threat. Landau is responding to people reporting posts on X with an image suggesting that they'll put permanent black marks in peoples' files or even seek to strip visas from people who "made light" of Kirk's assassination.

Another betrayal of the First Amendment.

Part of the problem for Thomas Chatterton Williams is that he styles himself as an American cultural critic despite having lived in France since Obama's first term.

He has no connection to contemporary American culture outside of Online. He is simply Ian Miles Cheong with better PR.

Jamelle you’re too talented to have to deal with this. You were right to say what you said, you shouldn’t have deleted those posts.

Yeah I guess LeBron putting up a 22.6 PER is pretty special, but it's not that impressive when you compare him to people rolling out of bed and firing off something like this at age 86.

New article from me about the Gauteng High Court's attempt to make mediation mandatory.
Mandatory mediation raises concerns about the rule of law
It has been introduced to deal with the huge backlog of civil trials, but could mean thousands of litigants are denied the right to be heard by a court in a fair public hearing.

The specific quote from General John DeWitt, justifying Japanese internment: “The very fact that no sabotage has taken place to date is a disturbing and confirming indication that such action will be taken.”
Just like in WW2 when some argued the lack of subversive activity by Japanese-Americans indicated they were plotting something big.
2/ This does not instill confidence that the Government has accurately or properly identified individuals under the Alien Enemies Act:

Government declaration:

"[T]he lack of specific information about each individual actually highlights the risk they pose."

if you just scan the headline — or if you’re just uncurious — you’ll think this is a “trump bad” piece but if you read it you’ll find that it is my attempt to explain what makes something “anti-constitutional” and why that is distinct from an “unconstitutional” act.
