No doubt there was a lot of burnout on the issue. The Sonics owners certainly weren‘t able to read the room. I made the comparison since it seems the decision to not enforce the lease and settle was short sighted and weak. The sonicgate documentary was informative on this.

This is similar to when Greg nickels decided to settle with clay bennet and let the Sonics leave without hearing the judges decision. They clearly lacked the gumption for a long and hard fight.
