“If there’s one thing that distinguishes a good watcher from a bad one, - said Jim - it’s the gentle art of doing damn all convincingly.”
This one is my favourite though, read and reread many times.

It is what it is, but it hurts if you get your finger trapped in the back door.

Looks like it might get a bit noisy just down the road for us.

Peter Lever was one of my heroes in the One Day Wonders, Lancashire team of the late 60’s early 70’s. I watched him many times at Old Trafford, together with Ken Shuttleworth they were a leathal bowling partnership. Rest in peace Peter and thanks for the memories !

On the Dutch BOL.Com they are only showing the ebook as becoming available on 27/3. I’m afraid they have mixed up your biographical information with the other CB. Perhaps your publisher could have a word with them ?
I will order a hard copy of A Spy at War as soon as it becomes available here in NL.

@lanre-bakare.bsky.social I read your article this morning about the 17th. century Dutch artist Jan Davidsz de Heem. In the centre of the painting is unmistakably an enormous pie, baked with what looks like short crust pastry.
I wonder when and why they stopped being baked and consumed here in NL?

Similar story here in the east of NL, +/- 380 kWh Sept vs 450 kWh in April.

13.4kWh here in NL, topped up my car battery with 9kWh.

It’s coming over from my way, but we’ve had bright skies with just the odd shower, I could hear it in the distance but it hasn’t been as bad as I was expecting, still time I suppose.

If I do say so myself and I have a limited culinary repertoire, I do a rather tasty dauphinoise.

A complex problem with many roots but this is very sad.

Our house is also East/West, we’ve had ours since February and had 12 (430Wp) installed. I also expected the west to be the most effective and split them 4 east - 8 west. Year to date, the East panels have generated more power.

I don’t know if this says anything to you, but for your interest, this is my home meter cupboard. I will need to have the main meter changed when I convert to 3x25A.

She was Anglo/Dutch and lived near Arnhem during the War. The house no longer exists but there’s a small statue of her on the same spot.
