Cycling, Science and the Political Economy, my personal contentions. Off-beat music soundtrack. Oxford, UK.
I've only just realised that this Children's book is essentially the Communist Manifesto (Marx, Engels) for kids.

Your regular reminder that it’s not just cars that can be badly parked

Here's my gripe (this bit not shared use)
Verges connected to road are cut but footpath overgrowth left uncut and pavement half width it should be. Team is out with strimmers - just go a bit further please to make an improvement to access!

Grass verges along Headley Way, OX3 have been cut back (unnecessarily imo) for the *third* time this calendar year. In contrast Cuckoo lane for cycles and peds just round corner has been done once. I had to go out in summer and cut back overhanging nettles myself.

I also spotted the BMW, I caught it at 15:35hrs, but you can see here it's moved.

Oxford Open Doors this weekend and visited the Islamic Centre this morning. I could post some pics of beautiful woodwork, tiles, stained glass windows, gardens and classic brick dome. But instead here is some of the smartest bike parking in Oxford.

Anyone travelling in south Oxfordshire take note. It's not obvious from Google maps or other sources but the B4017 route out of Steventon to Milton hill is currently closed at the rail bridge for emergency gas repair works. But you can squeeze through as pedestrian or pushing a bike.

So nearly all on low-traffic or off-road route
BUT.. once again caught out here on path behind Lawns housing development south Kennington. Maybe a sign post useful here (and better surface)? @nathanley.com @emilykerr36.bsky.social

This sign on vehicles baffles me... Sure it informs of something out of ordinary, but in an obvious context it applies to every vehicle (driver).
What it really says is: 'driver has restricted opportunity to break the law'.

One interesting side-line from watching bike racing is observing buildings around the world. Here's a 'full-solar-panel' retro-fit domestic roof in Denmark.

Lost count of the infringements seen this morning in Headington @badlyparkedox.bsky.social but this on Windmill road was probably the pick.
August 3, 2025 at 6:57 PM
Tell me about it. Welcome to Headley Way OX3. I'm going to bet this is the most widely flouted 30 limit in Oxford. Zero enforcement.
August 2, 2025 at 9:59 AM
Totally this. Plus the persistent issue of low level noise pollution with known detrimental effects to health. Significant improvement dropping from 30 to 20mph.
