We need a sharper line between augmented engineering and vibe coding.

A vibe coder is a creator, but not an engineer.

An engineer studied and honed the skills to understand what #AI is doing.

Both provide taste, the critical subjective human element necessary to create something good using AI.

Anyone else always adding newlines at the bottom of everything to feel comfortable when writing? Whether a git commit or a blog post, I’m often editing a published post immediately afterward to remove that extra space I forgot to cut. Does MarsEdit let you set margins? 😂 @danielpunkass

People worried about #AI art and writing are often told don’t worry, AI won’t replace human creativity.

But AI actually is creative - hallucination is a feature tweaked by settings like temperature.

AI can’t reproduce human taste, a moving target that decides when something is actually good.

Finally catching up on the #Tesla #CyberCab presentation from eariler this week. As a ModelY owner, I know there’s no way this technology is coming “next year”, but it is totally realistic in the next decade. Why can’t we have innovative #Elon all the time, instead of toxic Dark MAGA “Leon”?

Both #Apple and #Google treat legitimate and even the largest companies like they’re the hacker down the street and in the basement, as if they’re a threat to their users and their platforms. The amount of disrespect they show companies who develop and create value on their platforms is stunning.

There’s a simple solution for #Apple and #Google and all the legal challenges and regulatory issues they’re facing: stop bullying your way into other companies’ businesses because you have monopolies over the app platforms. Charge reasonable rent, not 30%, for access, and let businesses operate.

This weekend it occurred to me that I kept forgetting to test #AppleIntelligence for one thing that has always annoyed me about #Siri – that it could recognize compound requests but wouldn’t actually perform them.

Happy to find out that the new Siri CAN turn off multiple lights in one request!

Logging into work this morning is going to feel like when Cooper and Dr. Brand sealed the airlock and entered the Endurance after Dr. Mann wrecked it.

What a week this is gonna be 🤪

Who HASN’T sat in their living room putting a homemade cedar planter together, drinking beer and watching a wrestling pay per view?

Me, until today. Hope this goes well 😬😂 (new Pony worktable, first time to use that too)

I know he’s not for everyone, but damn I really do enjoy Roger Waters. Even though I attended this show here in Austin last October, I’m at the theater for the live global broadcast of his concert from Prague tonight. I’ve been a Pink Floyd fan since college, but I was always a Roger guy.

Always tickled at the names local breweries come up with. This is from the Austin area. What are y’all skeeters seeing from your locals?

(Yes this is also the brewery part owned by Jensen Ackles from Supernatural, The Boys, etc)

One of the nice things about late-stage Twitter is it's just laying bare all the problems with having a corporation own and control the way we communicate online.

Caught this unexpected gem this morning - Jupiter about as close as you’ll see it to the moon without occlusion.

These articles saying Apple is going to release this new headset for $3,000 and that they expect 7-10 million units sold in the first year… someone is smoking crack.

One of my favorite features(?) of bsky over the other one is I can easily go through the follow lists of folks I know and find all the other interesting people I follow in other places.

I don’t think I’m on a shit server on mastodon, but it’s nigh impossible to follow a lot of people there
