Quite right on the Westminster reporters caravan. But the underlying article is painfully miscuing its readers. As well as ignoring the Senedd election, drawing the conclusion that the next UK election will be a Labour-Reform contest is to turn your back to the future.

Remarkable victory for Plaid Cymru. Expect lots of attention (rightly) on Labour’s collapse to 11% of the vote. How much attention will the Conservatives get for their 2%?

The ‘Union Connectivity Review’ (which ‘ended’ Boris Johnson’s mad scheme for a bridge between Scotland and NI) sought to extend this link to Norwich, Swindon and Peterborough. Despite direct trains between Wales and Swindon, it did nothing to bring this line within its Union-strengthening remit.

I wrote a bit on the ‘Union Connectivity Review’: its analytical report had a more ambitious version of the Oxford-Cambridge idea, connecting Norwich to Swindon (plus Peterborough). ‘Fast growth’ towns - nothing to do with Union Connectivity. No link to Cardiff, given its a direct link to Swindon.

Welsh Government “very disappointed” that nursing course on list of cuts
‘WalesOnline asked Cardiff University and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board whether they had discussed the proposed axing of the Cardiff University school of nursing ... So far neither has responded to those questions.’

Not sure what the UK gov practice is on language and emergency phone alerts. I’ve had several this evening. Some start with text in Cymraeg. But some don’t.

Equally, tho Barnier’s ‘staircase’ was a political tool, it did give the impression that the UK had options ruled out by its own post-referendum negotiating choices.

Still bewildered the Observer printed this picture by an article that only mentioned Belfast in passing-with no attempt to interrogate it. Tempting to say Belfast refs allowed the media to avoid naming England as the location of the riots. Suspect they wd have been ‘U.K.’ or ‘British’ riots anyway.

also mentioning Belfast. In relation to Belfast, perplexing images were sometimes used, without any attempt to explain them. Here’s a pic from the 4/8 Observer by an article that has little to say about Belfast and nothing about the pic’s juxtaposition of flags. 2/n

Hardly the worst of Musk’s recent posting. Does suggest that he’s (also) using the response to violence/disorder in England in service of his political agenda in the US.
