Reminder that China wants to be a gold hub because it has absolutely no desire for the RMB to rival or replace the dollar as the dominant international reserve currency, since that would require it to reverse literally every one of its macroeconomic policies:

Pro-China propaganda posts are especially prevalent recently, so here's a quick reminder that Russia's war machine would have collapsed long ago were it not for all the help Russia gets from China. Putin is just Beijing's stooge. It's really China that's waging war on Western Europe via Ukraine...

If you're in need of positive and rather wholesome news, there's a high school teacher named Bryan who took a ton of freely licensed celebrity headshots at the New York Film Festival last month for Wikipedia, and I truly can't believe how drastic the upgrade is for some articles (thread)

Russia's budget deficit will be even larger this year and could reach 3.5% of GDP. The recent budget correction assumes 42.8 trillion RUB expenditure, but Q4 would have to be historically frugal to achieve that target. After Q3, already 72% of the plan was spent. 66% is normal.

Chinese goods are flooding global markets. There's countless examples. Congo is just an extreme one. This trade diversion shows how hard US tariffs have hit China. The way to exploit this vulnerability is to gradually ratchet up tariffs, not the current back and forth that makes the US look weak...

Much of the chatter at this week's IMF/WB meetings was about the crazy rise in gold prices. Most people are coming away from these meetings with a perception that the US economy is better than they thought. That may end the gold rally, at least for now...
