I was fortunate enough to see this hilarious game in person (my first time attending such an event). Well worth a watch.
I got to DM some of my favorite players with a live studio audience at SDCC!

Its one of the funniest games I've ever been a part of, please go entertain yourself, you deserve it!
Here's the link, the premiere starts at 4 PT

A wonderful summation! I am one episode in and the show seems perfectly charming. It remains to be seen whether it will explore some of the deeper issues that I look for in an anime of this kind (ecology and our relationship with food, predator-prey relationships, etc.).
[Review] It’s Delicious in Dungeon and the villainess anime of your choice, blended together in a food processor, and poured generously over a romance between misfits.

I can cafeteria Catholic with the best of them, and so do the rest of us until the eschaton, for the most part. But if we let Christian teaching increase the range of our interests and our deeds even a little bit, even unevenly, then over time that’s some amazing spiritual growth.
I think they’re genuinely perplexed about tradition and Christian teaching. I mean… everyone picks and chooses. I’m a very obedient Catholic except for when I’m not.

It’s their unwillingness to *be taught* that’s frustrating. It’s what a “magisterium” is for.

Here we propose adding an 11th criterion to UNESCO’s framework to protect animal cultures—habitat protection alone isn’t enough. Excited to collaborate with philosophers @merikatariina.bsky.social & @birchlse.bsky.social on this!

Protecting animal cultures as World Heritage - Nature Sustainability
It is becoming increasingly clear that animal cultures have intrinsic, irreplaceable value, and yet they are not adequately protected by preserving habitat. The time has come for UNESCO to explicitly protect non-human cultural heritage alongside human heritage.

Fidelity should be strictly opposed to zealotry; a zealot‘s fanatical attachment to his Cause is nothing but a desperate expression of his uncertainty and doubt, of his lack of trust in the Cause. A subject truly dedicated to his Cause regulates his eternal fidelity by means of incessant betrayals.

More news on this upcoming series (and what sounds like a delicious discussion at Otakon)! It is edifying to hear that those involved in this project gave a thought to its real-world implications (what foods are considered bizarre or even monstrous). Fried rattlesnake anyone?
Pass the Monster Meat, MiLady! premiered the first half of its initial episode at Otakon as a sneak peek for fans hungry for more food anime.

As someone who studies culinary and ecological themes in anime (and as a devoted fan of series like Studio Trigger’s Delicious in Dungeon and MAPPA’s Campfire Cooking in Another World with my Absurd Skill) I can’t wait to “dig in” to this upcoming adaptation of Kanata Hoshi’s light novel series!

It's interesting how often people lecture theologians on the need to cater to the needs of the church and how rarely churches bother to engage with or listen to theologians. I think that church leaders would get a lot more help than they expect in adapting to new circumstances if they engage.
Especially this bit.

One of the joys of the Comic Arts Conference is getting to meet so many outstanding scholars of popular culture. I wanted to take a moment to highlight the work of my co-panelist Adam Golub of California State University, Fullerton.

It was truly a delight to get to be on a panel with Friedman Prize-Winning Scholar Andrew Fogel. With all the discussion of the recent Superman film, his work stands out as particularly timely.

I will be presenting on this excellent work at Comic-Con International in San Diego. In times like these, where the twin specters of misinformation and totalitarianism loom large, the effort to recapture and engage critically with this sort of art becomes vital.
