Start your lawyers!
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

I guess they used AI in the paper.
This should get WIDE circulation:
MIT stating that it “has no confidence in the provenance, reliability or validity of the data and has no confidence in the veracity of the research contained in the paper.”

MIT Backs Away From Paper Claiming Scientists Make More Discoveries with AI
The retracted paper had impressed a Nobel Prize winner in economics.

Having just watched a report on the increasing number of people turning to AI agents for relationship advice, we can't be far away (if not already there) from a significant slice of voters asking ChatGPT/Grok/Siri/Whatever to tell them for whom they should vote. Take a moment to think about that.

This is IMPORTANT.
The law of the land is that the Constitution is the law of the land.
Even when it's inconvenient.
Even when it's unpopular.
Even when a weak, easily-manipulated president claims he doesn't know if he has to upfold it.

@philst.bsky.social Thanks for engaging on the legal system questions. We obviously don’t agree 100%, but I think we’re managing to have a civil discussion anyway.

Invaluable, and just when i needed it.

I enjoyed everything of his I read, even when I didn’t care about the characters otherwise. I’m glad he was here; I wish he could’ve stayed longer.
Peter David's wife is reporting that he passed away last night.

A versatile writer of comics and prose who adapted well to many characters, he had been having severe health issues for a while.

I am glad that he was around, and wish the best to those who knew him.

I think I just finished my book of the year, When the Moon Hits Your Eye by @scalzi.com. Takes a silly premise seriously for great fun, with lots of fun poked at billionaire celebrity culture, bureaucracy, and publishing along the way.

@scalzi.com any chance we can persuade you to actually write That’s No Moon? I’m now very eager for it…

IBM is laying off thousands of people, depriving them of their livelihood and health insurance and all that. Will leftists start vandalizing and destroying some property in protest? If so, whose? If not, how is this different?
