I’m reliably told this is cutting edge research with lots of commercial and defense applications that no one in their right mind would shutter.

Former president Barack Obama called on universities and law firms to stand up to intimidation from President Donald Trump’s administration and urged Americans to prepare to “possibly sacrifice” in support of democratic values.
Obama calls on citizens, colleges and law firms to resist Trump agenda
In a campus speech, the former president said universities should be prepared to lose federal funds to defend academic freedom, rather than be “intimidated.”

LGBTQ+ students deserve to go to school free from hate, but Trump signed a flurry of EOs threatening their safety and attempting to erase them from history.

Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s dismantling of USAID will lead to millions of preventable deaths.

The decision of the richest person in the world to destroy an agency that delivers life-saving aid to the poorest people on the planet is unconscionable.

We’ve tried to shelter our minds but tonight we’re preparing for the genocide of Science.

Entire NIH departments will have no leaders.

World renowned Scientists kicked to the curb without cause, & grants will loose their lead investigators.

Is this what they want?
Chaos? Destruction?
NIH ban on renewing senior scientists adds to assaults on its in-house research
Policy follows firings of tenure-track scientists and suspension of training programs

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

I'm a pilot with engineering Ph.D., worked in both airline and tech industries. I can say there is absolutely zero chance, given the timing of the switch, that FAA had done any review to make the decision based on merits. I hope Verizon sue the hell out of it.
Not having seen either plan in detail, I can't say for certain that this is right or wrong technical choice.

Know enough about FAA caution and rule-based procedure to say that such a move would reek to high heaven.
