My profile pic, for ref, is of me in my Starfleet uni working early voting, because I am a huge nerd. I wear science blue to rep my totally not imaginary political science track, my ship is the USS Votey McVotespace, and we fly around the universe administering elections. And we have great stickers.
It's wild that there's a whole ass industry of podcasters making their names on the history of the pseudoscience of recovered memory, while I'm almost 40, and still cannot explain to anyone in my life how much it permanently fucked me up.

Some things cannot be undone, but they can be monetized.

If you're going to cancel Hulu but keep shopping on Amazon, then I'd encourage you to think about whether this is really about a principled stance, or about making yourself feel better.

Let's definitely blame it on a "crazy person."

Trying to pick the worst of the three branches of government right now is like trying to pick the worst mid-August smell in New York City.

I've been working early voting and went to a delish ramen place on my lunch break 2x this week. The only music they've played either time is Taylor Swift. As a devoted Strict Scrutiny listener I feel ethically obligated to let @leahlitman.bsky.social know she needs to go to Teppen Ramen on E. 55th.

I'm not saying copaganda and the Dick Wolf universe are the reason that we're on a speedy decline into fascism but it sure doesn't hurt to butter the slope with glowing, heroic portrayals of the folks snatching people off the streets to extraordinarily render to CECOT.

The closed captioning on the @telemundo47.com and @nbcnewyork.com Mayoral debate is abysmal. Closed captioning of political debates is a matter of democracy and equity. Do better.

Just saw that Strange New Worlds is coming to Tribeca FF. There's a 5pm screening and panel. I will almost certainly be working early voting until 5:30. So I am prob going to work early voting for 10.5 hours and then haul ass downtown and show up sweaty and very late in my USS Votey McVotespace uni.

Saw Good Night and Good Luck on BWay tonight. I've seen a LOT of shows and never needed an assistive audio device before. I did tonight. It helped some, but the McCarthy footage and Hollenbeck "broadcasts" were mostly unintelligible. Cannot imagine an audience full of Boomers fared much better.

Fun fact about me: I have three fewer bones and four fewer teeth than the average adult. Allegedly it's for medical reasons, but I say it's because I needed extra room to be awesome.

I try not to wish physical harm on anyone, as it violates my commitment to nonviolence, but I'd like for every D.O.G.E. Bro, including their two fascist leaders, to experience a hysteroscopy every time they mention DEI.

That's not violence. It's a "basically painless" and "routine" procedure. 😊

remember stuff like this when they tell you that diversity means a lowering of standards
robert f. kennedy jr. submits his application to harvard university. his application is, in its entirety, a single page with his name "Robert F. Kennedy Jr."

he is accepted immediately.

If you want to actually work against the cruelty of this administration and make your community a better, kinder, more equitable place, find your local mutual aid groups and get involved.

Mutual aid is basically all that good shit that Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, and Reading Rainbow taught us.

I'm with critics who are hating on the Globes for being Emmys Lite and want them to go back to the messy days of yore, but their pieces lack context.

Said context being the time the cast of NewsRadio got blacklisted from the Globes for stealing everyone's champagne and getting shitfaced.

Two food rescue runs today was my NYE gift of self. Reporting an illegally parked cybertruck with Jersey vanity plates to 311 was my NYE gift TO myself.

I had another one of my recurring nightmares that they rebooted "Friends" only in this one I was part of a focus group and I made a network executive flee the room crying because I was so scathing.

Some things should never be rebooted. Do you hear me, NBC? Leave the things I love alone.

I have had a rough week so I have suited up in my warmest layers, put on my wrist brace, and about to go stabby knife shoe gliding. Or as some call it, skating. But those people are boring.

I've been rewatching Star Trek Lower Decks and have to think how much better media, in general, would be if only every franchise had the courage to relentlessly poke fun at itself, love its fans, and do weird shit not for ratings but for the sheer hell of it.
