Teaching, writing, studying Japanese, cooking, making collages, playing cozy video games, asking questions, trying to make myself useful while not getting too too tired.
This is the first baseball game I've watched in 35-40 years and, as a Canadian, I'm having a good time.

One of my cats (the one pictured in my avatar) has a perfectly adequate purr, but the other...his purr is the world's best purr, like an earthquake only snugglier. And even better? His snores. His snores are like grumpy little questions. "znnnzzn? ZNNNZZN?" TLDR: cat noises.

When people want something genuine, they (used to) refer to getting "the real McCoy." (I have no idea what people are saying today. Lol)

It turns out the phrase originated with people who needed a reliable steam engine. And the guy who made that phrase real was Elijah McCoy.

Was haunted by this book through most of my adolescence. @yourewrongabout.bsky.social has a great podcast series revealing why it's not nonfiction after all: open.spotify.com/episode/67Tr...

Giving respite and reflection is also helping. Your Bluesky questions give people time to pause, to think, to remember what they are fighting for.

Japanese has a verb tense for talking about other people's realities. Instead of "Jan is happy," one has to say, "Jan appears to be/says she is happy," because we can't know anyone else's truth, only what they show/say about this truth. I think about this when I'm making assumptions about others.

It does sound very altruistic, doesn't it? His motivations turn out to be pretty complex, though. It's interesting.

I was about to finish my BA and leave town for good. My two best dorm friends and I were studying in the common room when the biggest thunderstorm of the year hit. We abandoned our books and ran out to the parking lot to dance in the downpour.
