"Together, we will usher in a generation of change. And if we embrace this brave new course, rather than fleeing from it, we can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves."

As @radiofreeasiapr.bsky.social suspends broadcasting, @mcfaulmike.bsky.social laments the Trump administration shutting down soft power institutions.

"That is such a tragedy…," McFaul says. "We're not going to win this competition with the Chinese and the Russians if we unilaterally disarm."

Still love you Måns Zelmerlöw, but my early pick for this year's @eurovision.tv winner (so long as @melodifestivalen.se does the right thing) is Sweden's Kaj with the super catchy sauna-loving Swedo-Finn anthem 'Bara Bada Bastu' ('Just Take a Sauna').

This is where you go to tell the National Park Service to restore the word "transgender" in its entry on the Stonewall monument.

(Scroll down.)
Stonewall National Monument (U.S. National Park Service)
Before the 1960s, almost everything about living openly as a lesbian, gay, bisexual (LGB) person was illegal. The Stonewall Uprising on June 28, 1969 is a milestone in the quest for LGB civil rights a...

Absolutely disgusting. The T & Q have now been removed from the National Park Service's page for the Stonewall National Monument, with all mentions of LGBTQ+ changed to LGB. Why is this administration so afraid of trans people that it's denying their very existence?

The “T” was removed in references to L.G.B.T.Q.+ on the official site for the Greenwich Village monument, which marks a milestone in the fight for gay rights.

Huge congrats to the 3 award-winning queer films at this year's Sundance Film Festival: Twinless, Come See Me in the Good Light, and Sabar Bonda (Cactus Pears).

Congrats also to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who get name checked in 2/3 of these fantastic winners.

The new 'Wedding Banquet' is an absolute delight! Director Andrew Ahn celebrates a modern queer Seattle family with tender hilarity + excellent performances by Lily Gladstone, Bowen Yang, Kelly Marie Tran, Han Gi-Chan, the iconic Joan Chen, & the fantastic Yuon Yuh-jung. A new queer classic is born.

Donations and thanks keep streaming in from the public today to the obviously very appreciative @lafd.bsky.social station across the street. I'm so so proud of these guys and my fellow Angelenos who are recognizing their massive efforts this week.

I live right across the street from a Los Angeles Fire Department station, and after such a difficult week for them and our dear city, it's been so deeply heartwarming to see a steady stream of people stopping today to drop off treats or just offer their thanks to the brave firefighters.

A harrowing evening in Hollywood after this suddenly appeared out my front door. Quickly evacuated alongside everyone in a several mile radius, but so grateful to the LAFD for stopping this fire from tearing through the heart of Hollywood. My heart's with those across SoCal who haven't been so lucky

The fact that the United States seems to be headed towards conditioning the quality of its relationship with its democratic allies on whether or not it has a right-wing populist party in power is not just objectionable, it's a major fucking crisis for the stability of the world.
