"Together, we will usher in a generation of change. And if we embrace this brave new course, rather than fleeing from it, we can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves."
- NYC Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, in his victory speech

Queer Angelenos: Short notice, but tix are still available for 'The Big Johnson,' the fantastic doc about sexy subversive NYC musician, nightlife icon, and activist Dean Johnson, screening at 4pm in East WeHo today as part of the Slamdance Film Festival.

Huge congrats to the 3 award-winning queer films at this year's Sundance Film Festival: Twinless, Come See Me in the Good Light, and Sabar Bonda (Cactus Pears).

Congrats also to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who get name checked in 2/3 of these fantastic winners.

The new 'Wedding Banquet' is an absolute delight! Director Andrew Ahn celebrates a modern queer Seattle family with tender hilarity + excellent performances by Lily Gladstone, Bowen Yang, Kelly Marie Tran, Han Gi-Chan, the iconic Joan Chen, & the fantastic Yuon Yuh-jung. A new queer classic is born.

Hey @nytimes.com, this very misleading. Technically Victor Willis may be the only member of the group who also founded it with the producers, but he is NOT the last surviving member of the original Village People.

Donations and thanks keep streaming in from the public today to the obviously very appreciative @lafd.bsky.social station across the street. I'm so so proud of these guys and my fellow Angelenos who are recognizing their massive efforts this week.

I live right across the street from a Los Angeles Fire Department station, and after such a difficult week for them and our dear city, it's been so deeply heartwarming to see a steady stream of people stopping today to drop off treats or just offer their thanks to the brave firefighters.

A harrowing evening in Hollywood after this suddenly appeared out my front door. Quickly evacuated alongside everyone in a several mile radius, but so grateful to the LAFD for stopping this fire from tearing through the heart of Hollywood. My heart's with those across SoCal who haven't been so lucky

In my first feature for the UK's @attitudemag.bsky.social, I had the pleasure of interviewing West Hollywood Mayor John Erickson. He's a smart, charismatic and passionate progressive, and having met him has given me far more hope for the future than I might have otherwise had post-election.

I always feel especially lucky to live in LA during awards season, when I can sit in on rare convos like this one between directors Christopher Nolan and Ridley Scott after a screening of Gladiator II last night.
