Like many people, I went to see James Watson speak when I was in grad school. And like many people, I listened to him say the most sexist and bigoted shit you can imagine. I wish I'd had the courage to walk out.

Good fucking riddance.

The FPbase spectra viewer just had it's biggest software refactor in 6 years. It *should* be largely invisible to the end user (hopefully just faster and less buggy). Please let me know if you find any issues as you use it!

My official position on games being expensive is that I'm playing through a backlog of AAA games from ~3 years ago that I bought on steam for $5-10 and there's no conceivable way I'll ever catch up to today's games and so games are super cheap, actually.
AAA video games should cost $100 on launch. this would still be extremely cheap for the amount of time and enjoyment you get out of them! But an audience of whiny babies has kept them literally at the same price for *two decades* despite both general inflation *and* sector-specific costs rising

🧠 Even in the age of AI, classical image filters still matter!
They reduce noise, preserve edges, and boost segmentation + ML performance.

If you ever used napari in your research, take a moment to read this.
Napari, like many other resources in the bioimaging world, is freely available despite the fact that it costs many people much time and efforts to develop and maintain it.
Now you get a chance to give back, don't miss it :)
You might have noticed lots of activity in the napari project recently! 🚀 We're grateful for a grant from CZI that's keeping us going, but grants don't last forever: we're trying to figure out sustainable long term funding. Read our blog post to find out how you can help:

This is an absolutely heartbreaking story. I don't know what you do with people (especially young people) who are this sadistic.
Exclusive: A teen live-streamed his suicide on Instagram while users watched and sent messages encouraging him to go through with the act.

The case thrust investigators into the darkest corners of the internet.
