Humans do it all the time, so it shouldn’t seem strange unless Indigenous people are held to a higher regard—which isn’t unusual. It’s also more complex than that. A quick Google search can highlight those complexities if you’re interested, and I wouldn’t cast all with the same descriptor.

If they have personal motives and are after individual gain, I am sure there are a handful, not unlike non-Indigenous people, who behave the same way.
