I am disappointed that the DFL has stripped the DFL Endorsement from Senator Omar Fateh, who clearly had overwhelming support at the convention. They met privately and voted to overturn the will of Minneapolis delegates. An effort led by Mayor Jacob Frey. 1/

Hardly anything could be dirtier & grimier than a relatively small group, hundreds of city residents, gathering in an auditorium to decide a local DFL endorsement. Except a committee of outstate bigwigs overturning that endorsement bc their guy needed it bad. That seems dirtier.

Jacob Frey showed up to a DFL convention with barely more than 30% of delegates. Then the most normal thing happened: he lost. And bc he's a very special mayor, endorsement overturned! Proving the process goes much smoother if you shrink it down to a committee of party officials.

Shaffer “winning” the DFL endorsement made me think of this song.

Let’s be clear, Shaffer did not win the Ward 7 endorsement yesterday. She won the Senior endorsement yesterday.

Our Ward, especially areas in Uptown and Loring are full of young, diverse folk. A majority of the delegates were old, white people.

Not representative of Ward 7.

What I’ve learned during the last two weeks of DFL conventions:

Republicans welcome. Left-wing members of the left-wing party need not apply.

The @dfl.org must do better to reach young voters. The display of gerontocracy was in full-force tonight at the Ward 7 convention.

Mayor Frey, I saw you fist bump people who spoke on behalf of disenfranchising me. I heard your campaign members being rude, snickering and booing for anyone who spoke up on my right to be at my own party’s convention. They were wearing your campaign shirts, and sitting together.

Spent some time redesigning the interchange for Lyndale/Hennepin/I-94 near downtown Minneapolis :)

Most of it would be 2 or 3 lanes, some places with 4. Didn’t add all that in this.
