I live in the southwest and was wondering if X links would have helped with the CO2 intensity 🤔

You need land to restore Few want to hear this but we need to move to a plant based food system. Meat free Mondays won't be enough

You can dislike his messaging - policy stance etc. But surely which ever you go for 2 or 2.5- it's sensible to start with discussing budgets. ( its pysics as with H2 issue) Currently this issue is being obscured by CDR optimistic IAM s

You say in the policy section that 3% CE growth is broadly consistent with 2c . Can you show us the workings on this in relating to C budgets. @kevinclimate.bsky.social says delay will lead to steep mitigation requirements similar to needed for 1.5 now?

Sister plant to Hinckley & Sizewell. Despite being 12 years late it finally - went offline

there is a quarry behind there -the granate used in London bridge

I find it hard to believe Simon Morrish @gjuk.bsky.social , @mliebreich.bsky.social et al didn't do due diligence on this. Don't assume these people in government aren't so stupid as to just cancel on the basis of the phase "home grown energy"
Look forward to closure of Drax on that basis

he's green lighted blue hydrogen projects in the north west /east. Chucked a load of money at Sizewell C - when the one in France / Hinckley not going great. Now he's pulled X links.
Amazing guy. Fantastic.

apart from anything else - what confidence does this give to business investment to take it so far as designating it -then pulling the plug - useless

So @coxypm.bsky.social was on spotlight saying UK is making good progress on cutting emissions. (BBC spotlight south west) Now @kevinclimate.bsky.social has given many presentations arguing the contrary. So who is right?
So has the UK made good progress compared to Kenya?

This car is called the Seagull in China. Just launched in the UK, the name has changed as seagull has negative connotations. What have we become @georgemonbiot.bsky.social @chrisgpackham.bsky.social

problem here it that the science has moved on. More realistic scenarios are now more problematic -as what was considered safe say 10 years ago - isn't now. Changes in IPCC burning ember diagrams through time👇
Without that context - perceptions on CC ( post RCP.8.5) could also be damaging.

I can't agree about this accusation of alarmism. Ramsey isn't a "it's tool late" merchant Those 2.5C IPCC models have shed loads of CCS & CDR. The IPCC burning ember diagrams show higher risk at lower temps once thought safe as science progresses.

Brett piants Sweeden as particularly progressive on climate - it's India we need to focus on. But this is at odds with @kevinclimate.bsky.social assessment of sweden - and who is an expert in tracking policy against Paris agreement 18 mins

negative emissions from BECCS (wood burning + CCS) in IPCC scenarios.

very interesting. Re IPCC working group 3. Not many scientists have felt able to speak out about neoclassical economics in mitigation. A notable example kevin anderson (manchester uni)- who doesn't mince words here

coming back to this. There could be a third way where retrofits aren't deep. Gas engineers can easily convert to HP's as most of the skill is plumbing (some theoretical training needed on heat loss) Deep retrofits can be disruptive a take a lot of skill. We could do windows / loft insulation apch.
