Genocide is the crime of crimes, the deepest stab in the heart of humanity.

Whether it’s Nazi Germany, Rwanda, Bosnia, Sudan, other historical horrors,

or…

These people worrying about who uses toilets should try going into one after I’ve been in there. That’ll give them something to complain about.

As my man Joe Levy indicates in this vicinity, I got to test my 83-year-old bones at a Sony Hall Gang of Four show in Manhattan two nights ago. Sorry you weren't there. For that matter, sorry my wife Carola wasn't there either. Like her, the concert was what I like to call really something.

One can not really "like“ this tweet but one should probably share it. Whenever I have been in the UK lately, I have really been struck by the extent of rough sleeping. Grim.

Quakers call for rights to be restored after police raid on Westminster Meeting House

No rabbit - not even a hat. Not much that we didn't know. Chancellor praises Labour, slags off the Conservatives. Raises estimate of how much will be brought in by clamping down on tax evoidance (why has noone ever thought of that before?) and sticks to benefits changes

The biggest single plus from all the Spring Statement Policy Decisions was ‘reshaping the state to be more productive and agile’. In 2029/30 that will boost Treasury coffers by £6.1 billion. Hmmm.

Frozen Inheritance Tax thresholds and applying it to pensions and farms raises the tax take. Treasury income from IHT will double from 2022/23 to reach £14.3 billion in 2029/30 and the number paying it will also double from 1 in 20 estates in 2022/23 to one in ten in 2029/30

New figures published with the Spring Statement pushed up the savings from frozen tax thresholds for the government to nearly £46bn in the year 2027/28 when the freeze ends. When I say savings to govt, I mean of course the cost to all of us who pay tax – or will in future.
