As an editor I'm always keen to work with fellow economists, and other social scientists, willing to contribute a couple of hours or so for the occasional review work in development and well-being related areas. If you have questions or think you can help please get in touch.
Hans Singer would be 115 today. He provided the impetus for several key UN agencies, including the WFP. Architect of the Prebisch-Singer doctrine. He was at Bretton Woods with Keynes! Met him at Sussex U. whilst a Warwick grad student. Years later he wrote the foreword to my book with Mehmet Odekon.

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the lecture & book launch for Nick Stern's "The Growth Story of the 21st Century" at LSE. As expected the auditorium was standing room only. Here is a digital copy for anyone interested. Please feel free to share further:

What good is learning about buyers' remorse? Energy needs to go towards preventing a Farage-led government.
Ah! Good morning, reality. And welcome. We’ve been expecting you…

Cleaning out my home office today threw up these! One of the best examples of how I used to illustrate price mechanisms governing the sale of branded versus generic products in elementary micro lectures. The best before dates on both cans: February 2006!!

Seems like running rings around successive US presidents has become Netanyahu's favourite pastime.
News Analysis: President Trump said that he found out about Israel’s airstrike in Qatar from the U.S. military, rather than Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he often describes as both a friend and his strongest ally in the Middle East.
With Qatar Attack, Israel Again Leaves Trump in the Dark

Max Corden's birthday is next week. I remember meeting him at my very first World Bank ABCDE meeting 30 years ago, almost to the week. He was already a household name, but he was modest and unassuming. He and Peter Neary had by then published one of the most consequential papers in trade theory.

Listened to one of the sharpest minds on the swirling geopolitical chaos facing us all today. Prof. Jeff Sachs spoke, via video-link, at @isqols.bsky.social's 30-year anniversary meetings in Luxembourg this afternoon. Refreshing as always, & critical but always constructive is Prof. Sach's hallmark.
