AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…

What I want to know is why be an asshole? Why do that to people in desperate need for food? He’s so rich and yet he gets off on being a dick.
While Elon Musk blocks food-bank share links on his platform, he could feed 17 million Americans for a month using just 1% of his $491 billion fortune. 1%—that’s all.

Instead he chooses censorship and cruelty over compassion.

In case it's not obvious, none of this is true. He's either innumerate, or lying.

Ingraham: Where is that money coming from?

Trump: I don't know.

This was entirely orchestrated by Schumer.

At Thursday’s meeting, they told their caucus colleagues that they now had ten votes to reopen the government in exchange for no real Republican concessions.

The thing about the "I voted against this" position Schumer is taking is that either he is trying to mislead Dem voters by implying he didn't support reopening right now, or he has no control over his caucus.

A tech billionaire mocked Pope Leo XIV’s call for ethical AI.

The post was deleted — but not before exposing Silicon Valley’s deeper discomfort: a pope they can’t buy or bully.

It also revealed something older: the Valley’s original sin — the desire to be God.
Tech Billionaire Mocks Pope Leo’s AI Warning — and Reveals Silicon Valley’s Original Sin
A billionaire tech guru openly mocked Leo's call for moral AI — and quickly backtracked after backlash. It’s a telling collision of Silicon Valley hubris with a pope they cannot buy, bully, or ignore.

I got back to my office after the vote last night and recorded this. There's no way to sugarcoat what happened. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

We polled Indivisible members over the weekend on whether Dems should take a deal or keep fighting for the ACA subsidies. Results: 98.67% said keep fighting.

Dems who vote to surrender now are fracturing their own party in a way that will reverberate loudly in the primaries.
So Democrats get:

1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays

2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail

3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts

Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

They couldn’t let us bask in the joy of victory for even 1 week.

All they gave us was 5 days. Couldn’t even get us to a week of being hopeful. All that goodwill and joy and happiness that maybe the Democratic Party really can do something right, all of it tossed in the trash pile. Sigh…

Mark my words

the american democrats are going to let the shutdown end without calling the republicans LAZY even ONCE.

messaging problem? well we do get the message: that they're the feeblest, most innocuous opposition we have ever seen anywhere.
