to spin off Tyler Burge's example: you get to tell your doctor whether or not your knee hurts, your doctor gets to tell you whether or not you have arthritis. these are just reports about different things and weighing one against the other is confused
yuuuuuup. I didn't want to accept this but it's hard to deny something broke in how people experience the economy.
That doesn't mean material conditions *don't matter*, but there's real attenuation of the connection between feelings and objective conditions and I don't know what to do about it

One major problem, bluntly, is that lots of folks can't distinguish between good writing and poor writing. This is about education, not intelligence: they could learn the difference, but it's frequently not taught, even in "good" schools. This is ultimately a competitive disadvantage for them.
it's so wild that people conflate quickness with quality so they think chatGPT writing a wall of text in 10 seconds means it's good writing.
