I bought this candle specifically to see if the melted wax would follow the spiral as it fell down.

The wax does not melt!

Today, I watched a YouTube video auto-dubbed into English. I changed the language back to the original (Korean), and it turns out it was... English.
With a Korean accent.

The production of The Nutcracker that I saw had a background curtain of a room with things from the performance, like an elephant, a bull, a dragon, a unicorn, and of course a nutcracker. It also had a Whimshurst electrostatic generator! I have no idea *why* it was there, but I love it so much!

I just saw The Nutcracker for the first time, and I really appreciate that The Rat King was both a king (wearing a crown) and a rat king (was multiple rats stuck together).

Today I Learned: Wench is a sort of counterpart to lad, but it took on a negative connotation, so it's no longer used to refer to girls the way lad is used to refer to boys.

Christmas in Florida last year. There were ibises hanging out in the back yard!

I had a classic "I didn't know I had a test today or was even in this class" dream, with a twist that I did know I was in the class. I got a 90.

This is great. It's bad news, but great insight.
1. The poverty line is based on food cost, which doesn't make much sense. An updated poverty line for a family of 4 would be more like $140k/yr. Using the same method for one person, it's around $40k/yr.
2. Costs have gone up more than inflation...
This is an insightful but deeply upsetting article about why everyone in the US feels poor, and why the current political situation emerges as a direct result.

This is so cool: When I parked in my garage yesterday afternoon, no carbon monoxide was detected (orange), but other emissions were (green). When I left this morning, CO *was* detected.

The engine and catalytic converter produce more CO from a cold start, and almost none after warming up!

The Running Man had some very good product placement. Monster and Liquid Death fit right into the dystopia.

(Also I liked the movie)

I saw this for the first time today, and I can't believe I didn't see it sooner.
Yeah, we’re gonna need to see those Epstein files…

There I was, responsibly testing out my new temperature sensors before using them, when I smelled that smell that all electrical engineers fear: Barbecue.

Honestly, it smelled pretty good, but I did accidentally swap power and ground. Good news, though, it still works, and it's still within spec!

A kid dressed as a taco said, "Have a good night, sir," and now I feel old, but I also appreciate his politeness. Then another kid complimented my hat, so I think it's a net positive.

My sensor is uncalibrated, but if I blindly trust the specs, and if carbon monoxide was the only gas present, it peaked around 25 ppm when I parked my car.

I wouldn't hang out in there, but this isn't bad.
My new garage sensor got its first real test - I parked in the garage! There was an immediate spike in gas sensor data (nominally carbon monoxide) and a change in the magnetic field sensor reading. The CO2 measurement also changed and there was a drop in humidity - likely just from outside air.

This song is so good. I can't get it out of my head. Not only is it great musically, it also encapsulates Denji and Reze's arc throughout the movie.
