Not enough attention is being paid to the effective closure of the bulk of one of the 2 or 3 most important public archives for modern British history. A terrible own goal for the BBC as a public-service agency.
WAC wrong-headedness

I've brought together the key links for the campaign against the changes which now make independent and exploratory research at WAC impossible - and why this matters.

Mega interesting discussion. In my (limited) experience, councils see a skatepark as an easy way to provide a space for young people but lack imagination to come up with alternatives. Skatepark contractors don't provide alt amenities and older, male users dominate the consultation process.
This is super interesting -- and a bit depressing -- but I'd also like to see the equivalent survey done on teenage boys! Because I think sometimes there's an assumption that boys are being catered to with things like gym equipment, but actually... maybe they want spaces to hang out and chat, too?
This comes from engagement work with teenage girls in a park in York.
And you see all those things with two dots by them. Those make up 90%+ of what we currently provide for young people in public space.
Whereas the things that girls want - they just aren't there.
Let's do better.
