Unless they also change Election Code this means nothing lol
Wild stuff going on in Texas right now. Amid an incredibly contentious Republican fight for Speaker of the House, the Texas GOP has passed a resolution vowing to censure anyone who doesn’t vote for party leaders’ preferred candidate — which will bar any censured lawmaker from running in primaries.

NEW: Porsha Ngumezi is the fifth case we've reported on in which a woman died after not receiving a D&C or its second-trimester equivalent in time, or at all.

Her case raises questions about how abortion bans are pressuring doctors to avoid standard care even in straightforward miscarriages.

It’s not hard to not be a total dick to trans people, I’m literally doing it right now, sitting on my couch, not doing it.

Too many in media and an entire Republican Party, and a number of overpaid Dem consultants, flunk this remarkably easy test, it’s like most people failing to blink

If you haven’t read it yet, this is a must read. As with many things in America today, it started in Texas (the suburbs of Texas to be precise).
New followers: As we wait to see who Trump picks to lead (and/or dismantle) the federal Education Department, let me tell you about the book I wrote.

It investigates the origins of the “anti-woke,” “anti-CRT,” anti-trans movement that Trump tried to tap into.

Here's what I found 🧵

One thing I think people talking about the threat of authoritarian creep have gotten, if not exactly wrong, not quite right either is to frame discussion in terms of various European precedents.

Those are relevant to be sure, but we also have an American precedent - namely the South before 1965.

NEW: Private schools across the South that were established for white children during desegregation are now benefiting from tens of millions in taxpayer dollars flowing from rapidly expanding voucher-style programs, a @propublica analysis found.

There’s a reason that “elections have consequences” is something we actually have to remind people of.
I understand the takes that Harris shouldn’t have campaigned against authoritarianism, but at the same time, it seems clear that voters really did not want this. Was it wrong to try to warn them of what they would get? www.axios.com/2024/11/15/t...

Some people cannot comprehend that the exodus from X is not 'liberal flight' but a lot of people deciding that the content on the platform - hate/extremism, disinformation, violent/nsfw content, low quality ads, lax responses to user reports, suppression of content - just can't be ignored any more.

The reason that ExxonMobil is saying you don't need to pull out of Paris again is that they know their own books. The only part of their shop that's grown for 20 years is the R&D on batteries and biofuel, because that's where the private money is. They don't need a cheaper barrel of oil.
