cloudflare is what happens when you put a single opaque for-profit corporation in charge of a global network and pretend it's a good idea

The Internet should NEVER take such a widespread hit because of a single entity. It's DESIGNED to not be this way. Megacorporations killed the real Internet

Hey Elixir friends! :)
We need help completing Elixir's browser runtime by porting some Erlang functions to JavaScript.
No Erlang knowledge required. Each function unlocks multiple Elixir stdlib functions!

PSA: if you're using a YubiKey-backed PGP key for signing emails on Thunderbird, make sure to **disable** saving drafts in encrypted format. Store them locally if you don't trust the server

Signed,

does anyone know a quick and dirty way to add a property to icalendar events in Thunderbird?

SOGo sucks ass and uses the custom property `X-SOGO-SEND-APPOINTMENT-NOTIFICATIONS:NO` to not send email notifications on its own instead of the complying with standards :/

am I speedrunning being an old person if I find mailing lists and more generally email-based communications a lot more efficient (assuming everyone follows the netiquette)?

sharing is a single click, it's easily archivable and browsable (internally or publically), zero vendor lock-in, hrmm

sucks that Vagrant isn't as popular as it used to be, means there's no oss fork since HashiCorp parted ways with open-source licensing

bots that automatically close stale issues are so bad, why did it become such a universal trend

an open issue burried deep in the tracker doesn't cause noise, that's straight up bullshit. it's just bad project management that leaves lots of valid bugs and use-cases unanswered, ughh

One thing that's been bothering me with atproto is the lack of clear data retention expectations

For a lot of use-cases losing access to user-generated content can be a significant loss of knowledge, yet the canonical source of a user's data can disappear overnight without notice

Minecraft Java Edition is ditching obfuscation altogether!

No more dealing with Yarn/Mojmaps, nor weird edge cases introduced by obfuscation, and most definitely faster build times now that (de)obf is no longer a thing!!!

Fun fact: the "Conformité Européenne" logo, the CE on all electronic products you buy, is awfully close to the "China Export" logo. Only the spacing between the letters is different!

The ref selector for GitHub Actions workflow_dispatch is so frustrating because it's confusing and likely not what you want to use

I wish there was a way to restrict the trigger to a branch (i.e. don't use the spec from another branch) and accept a ref (with the fancy selector) as dispatch input :(
