Children of Dune is my favorite book in the series. Herbert was a writer who knew how to play the long game. He built a world, made us love it, and then destroyed it while making us to look in the mirror and ask ourselves why we thought that genocide was cool.

I wish that my wife looked at me the way that Trump looks at Zohran Mamdani.

Huntington Beach showing its whole ass.

It doesn't actually matter who killed Charlie Kirk or why for these people. They will LARP us into a civil war come hell or high water.

Charlie Kirk certainly had opinions.

Live by the sword, die by the sword I guess 🤷🏻

Today I started The Scar, by China Mieville.

Such beautiful prose!

I just met the city of Armada a few pages ago, and China has already poured so much vibrancy into the city that it's become a character unto itself. Not even 100 pages in and it's already a masterpiece.

I've been saying for years that Rudy Giuliani is clearly host to a Symbiote, and nobody takes me seriously.

This rotting old man should not have survived that crash. If you still can't see that he's harboring an extraterrestrial parasite, then you're just being wilfully obtuse at this point.

I've always loved this passage. Peter Watts understanding of the human condition is one of the things I love the most about his writing.

I live on the coast in the PNW. It's supposed to be between 40° and 65° here all god damn year.

You can't tell me that climate change isn't real. It's fucking physics. A deterministic process.

If you still believe this isn’t the case, then are irredeemably dumb and a threat to all life on earth.

Greg Egan is wild. Holy shit.

I am blown the fuck away.

I'm a little more than halfway through Quarantine, and I have to say that this is some of the most complex and intellectually satisfying science fiction I've ever read.

You can feel the weight of his intellect in the writing.

I'm a fucking nerd, so I remember fictional space ships that haul ice from the asteroid belt to Eros Station.

How is the Venn diagram of Star Wars villains and members of the Trump 2 admin such a perfect circle?

I honestly feel like they're doing this on purpose.

I need help.

The kosher thing is weird, right? I feel like it's weird, but historically speaking, I'm very bad at understanding what is and isn't weird to other people.

Am I missing a piece of the puzzle? That's a strange thing to get hung up on, isn't it?
