The iOS 26 markup tool lets you draw in HDR now!
It’s called “boost” because it only affects the HDR rendition of the GainMap file, so you’re effectively choosing two colors to use at the same time.

Apple Log 2 will finally be using a gamut much closer to sensor native, including non-human virtual colors. Excellent news.
Funny how closely it resembles the test results I saw of an iPhone 12’s gamut when Macbeth patches were matched to a human observer.

There will be an "Apple Log 2" encoding apparently. No documentation available yet, but I'll guess that the original encoding went into floating point range too easily. I'd have to confirm with test footage tho.
