Yeah, it has long been the case that adult-oriented businesses have to be careful or risk the wrath of everyone from prosecutors to payment-processing companies, but "prominent social media company owned by world's richest person swiftly became world's largest CSAM producer" produces no reaction.
Elon Musk chatbot repeatedly making CSAM on demand should be one of the single biggest stories right now and it's effectively a collective shrug instead

Article 1, Section 9 & 10 have been removed from the official Govt website on the US Constitution. Among numerous points:
•Section 9 forbids suspending The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus
•Section 10 forbids ex post facto laws

This better be a joke. Ignoring these is full blow dictatorship

I would also love if people who just leaned what intersectionality means to stop misusing it . It’s not a get out of jail free card bc your identities are historically marginalized . marginalized ppl can replicate the same systems as oppressors . Hence these questions from celebs

Imply that those without - don’t deserve basic rights and stability . the very idea the brings this question about proves why there is no ethical way to be a billionaire . Idk if the billionaire is Black fat disabled ND deaf & blind . There are no ethics no matter the intersections.

Nobody “deserves” generational wealth when there are people who are poor . In order to be a billionaire you *must* exploit others. There is no nuance unless you’re redistributing your wealth . so yes, ALL billionaires are in the same bucket . The idea that someone “deserves” excess would
Now to add some nuance… yall ready for the intersectionality politics?

What about black & non/white male billionaires? Who beat all odds & fought racism/sexism etc.. to get to where they are?

Does wealth & who deserves to have generational wealth matter?

There’s a bunch of factors here at work (which I might get into later) but in practice, depending on location, target and filters individual exposure I make are between 15 seconds and 20 minutes long.

But! I can make more than one exposure. In fact I can make hundreds over many nights.

With modern sensors it’s essentially down to counting single photons.

Now to get any sort of useable image with this sort of weak signal I need to make long exposures, but I can’t just make them arbitrarily long, as sensors have a limit of how many photons per pixel they can count.

A thing I find difficult when sharing astro images on social media is trying to explain to people that colors don’t exist as such and are just something our brain is making up from different wavelength (photon energy) ranges our eyes can see.

Might be time to write about this.

"Tire particles are a significant but often-overlooked contributor to microplastic pollution. They account for 28% of microplastics entering the environment globally."
Car tires shed a quarter of all microplastics in the environment. Urgent action is needed
Every year, billions of vehicles worldwide shed an estimated 6 million tons of tire fragments. These tiny flakes of plastic, generated by the wear and tear of normal driving, eventually accumulate in ...

Subtitles aren’t just for deaf or hard of hearing players. They’re important for players in loud environments (who can’t use headphones), non-native speakers who rely on text to follow dialogue, and many neurodivergent folks who struggle to focus or process audio quickly. Just to mention few.

taking posting online as implicit consent for having your data used in any which way is shitty in all the normal ways that other smart people are pointing out but it also engenders a relationship with technology and products that is inherently hostile and end of day i don't think tech ppl want that

It is exhausting having to research and figure out everything from black plastics to best ventilation practices to COVID vaccine schedules, I know this is a wild idea but have we thought about creating publicly funded government bodies that could manage and regulate this stuff on our behalf
