Bird's Nest Fungi for #FungiFriday!
I didn't even know they were a thing until this last November! It's so amazing and lovely that there are always new organisms to discover and learn about 🪺

Photo taken in garden ~ South Wales ~ UK A feral pigeon is a common city bird, often called a street pigeon, derived from rock doves. For someone with partial sight, they can be described by their distinct, stout shape, their head-bobbing movement, and their varied, often muted colour patterns. They are plump, medium-sized birds, smaller than a crow but with a broad chest. They have a stout body, a small head relative to their body, and short legs. They have long, powerful wings that are kept neatly folded against their sides when resting. Feral pigeons come in many colours, but they are often a mix of light grey, blue-grey, white, brown, and black. A key feature is a metallic or glossy patch on the neck, which can shimmer with purple and green colours in the light. They often have two distinct, bold black bars running across their wings. When walking on the ground, they move with a characteristic jerky, back-and-forth bobbing of the head. They take off quickly, often with a loud, clapping sound of their wings, and fly in a fast, straight, and powerful manner. They make a soft, rhythmic "coo-rooo" noise, which can become louder and more aggressive during mating or squabbles. They are highly social, living in large flocks in urban areas. Human Coexistence: They are very used to people and will often walk close to pedestrians looking for food. In summary, you can identify them by their plump, pigeon-toed walk, their rapid bobbing head, and the soft cooing sound they make while walking on sidewalks or rooftops.
