This is just Menken’s law: To every complex problem there is a solution that is clear, simple, and wrong.

So cool!
Also I admit I was actually thinking of Nick Shackleton first :))

Shackleton? Any relation?

Are there any good pieces on why us faculty, ostensibly such a left-leaning establishment, seems so resistant to unionization? (I have lots of personal theories)

Hahaha! Ok! Glad i’m not crazy!
Cheaper idea: let’s shoot microplastics. The marginal impact of the amount of microplastics needed must be small (relative to the background).
… I thought i was joking when i started this reply. No i’m not sure

Right. But it doesn’t accumulate either? What happens to it? (Sorry if this is a dumb question )

Also, are there any details on this magic inert powder that neither reacts nor accumulates?

But… if they’re bringing the air inside the plane? Couldn’t they just bring it down before putting it in the instrument? Details are thin on the setup, but presumably there’ll be no turbulence inside the plane?

I feel like we're all playing around the edges, and there are not (yet) good resources for learning how to use it.
I feel like it would be useful to have some kind of "knowledge sharing" venue. Probably too late to propose something like that for AGU?

I have also heard good reviews of Claude from Earth Scientists.
Coming back from parental leave soon, and one of my first goals is to learn how to use AI for help with coding and debugging better...

Cool! I have found it useful for zoom transcriptions.
I also used whatever AI is embedded in google collab and found it very useful for learning how to use new python libraries (faster and more malleable than copy-pasting stack-exchange code). But I feel like I am not taking full advantage of AI.

What are you planning on using Claude for? I'll be curious what your experience with it is.

Interesting hypothesis. However, the 2 days of vomiting and $300 vet bill after one of our cats got into bunch of cooked green beans do not much support it.
