I never realized all the benefits cherries have! Not only are cherries a great snack but they could help individuals with their sleep health by regulating the circadian rhythm and by boosting their heart healthy by lowering triglycerides levels

One thing I'm going to look for before deciding if nutrition info is fact-based will be the principle of attribution. I believe not only knowing the original source of information is key but knowing the year of publishment is crucial in deciding if a product is outdated. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I wasn't aware of the hormone leptin & it's link to obesity. Low levels of leptin can increase a person's brain to believe they're in starvation mode increasing consumption. A barrier to healthy eating that I can relate to is unhealthy diet of family; I come from a dominican household where carbs and meat are what our plate mostly consisted of, veggies are scarce. Now living on my own, unlearning this form of eating is hard to adopt at times #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This article provided the information to clear some of the misconception over wild caught vs. farm raised salmon. Ideally wild caught salmon has powerful antioxidant that they get from their diets, while farm raised salmon are feed a diet that may contain the antioxidant. Both are safe to eat!

I've considered doing the "no carb diet" but after some research i've gathered that this diet lead to deficiencies, health complications & the yo-yo effect! This is a great example of a nutrient dense breakfast option! Most mornings I do enjoy eating two eggs and 1/2 cup of oats. With this bfast option I noticed that I stay satiated longer than when I choose a less balanced meal. Eating a less balance meal also contribute to more snacking!

On some mornings, I like to have breakfast tacos. In order to make it more nutrient dense I can use; sub flour to corn tortillas, two scramble eggs, fresh pico de gallo,sliced avocado instead of guacamole,sub cotija cheese for reduced-fat mozzarella & add fresh cilantro! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I used Fitness pal for my 24 hr. recall, certain foods I entered were not accurate. A slice of cheese pizza, displayed different options with the calories & locations listed. This made the process hard and discouraging. The amount of snacks I ate was also eye opening.@beh353.bsky.social #beh353
