a new and potentially effective antidepressant is great news, but it does worry me that the USA is steadily moving in the direction of an economic model where half the system is dedicated to the production and administration of drugs to allow people to cope with the effect of the other half.

Whenever some dude complains about tampons in men's restrooms, what it really comes down to is that he just doesn't respect women. He feels emasculated by tampons because for him, there's nothing more insulting than to be equated with women. Misogyny is the internal structure of transphobia.

The Internet is so good for stuff like mutual aid and keep people informed amid crisis. Like, when I feel despair--and these days I often do--it's a small encouragement to be reminded that when we are proximal to suffering, we are capable of extraordinary generosity.
