Nerd alert: I'm currently an unemployed librarian (by choice.for reasons.)But today i went to the library a county over and they had loads of these discarded for .10 each. I miss my job, and hopefully this will help me feel like I'm working my librarian brain till I can go back one day

Dorothy B. Porter changed libraries 💜

The Dewey Decimal System used to only have two classifications for Black people: 325 (colonization) & 326 (slavery). Each book by a Black person was put into one of these classifications. A book of poetry? Classified as colonization.

For a minute I considered trying to reread it. Someone (who loves it) was posting so many great things I thought maybe I was wrong. Nope. It just hurt my head.
Still haven’t seen Wicked, but it does warm my heart to know that there is now an entire other generation that is going to attempt to read, and inevitably decide not to finish, the book it’s based on
