Donald Trump put a 10% tariff on Heard and McDonald Islands. That'll teach those penguins.

We’re trying to pass a state budget that can help address the NY housing crisis, but it’s tough when you’re up against a hostile power in your own country. I’m pushing for a revolving loan fund to make financing cheaper, but if building costs spike, 🤷🏼
Since I’m a housing and homelessness guy I feel like I need to remind everyone that these tariffs are likely to have a cataclysmic effect on housing affordability and homelessness.

I agree with this.
Merrick Garland,

Drop the appeal to reinstate the indictments for Nauta and De Oliveira. The Trump DOJ will do it anyway.

Release both volumes of the Special Counsel report.

Do not become an unwitting accomplice in their efforts to suppress the truth.

Sincerely,

Sane America

remarkable to me that far from seeming cool or masculine zuck seems like an even bigger loser — the kind of nerd who preemptively gives his lunch money to the bully and thanks him for the opportunity

I wrote this piece with @dahlialithwick.bsky.social & @mimirocah1.bsky.social on the claim that Pete Hegseth is entitled to a Presumption of Innocence over allegations of sexual assault. But Senate confirmation hearings aren’t criminal cases & that claim doesn't hold water slate.com/news-and-pol...
The Presumption of Innocence Has Nothing to Do With Pete Hegseth’s Confirmation

Can Dem politicians resist preemptively sucking up? Finding middle ground is not the goal. Fighting for the people who sent you there is. You are obligated to listen to them regardless of where that lands you in relation to Trump. For a few weeks at least just STFU.

Canadian MP Charlie Angus just sounded off on Trump.

"So yes, they are our neighbors, but we've stood up to them. We're in a different situation with Trump, a convicted predator, who's seriously undermining the democratic process in the US. And he thinks he can just push us around. He insults us."

Here's an idea for the Democrats: Have a victim or two of Assad's torture chambers testify at Tulsi Gabbard's confirmation hearing.
Watching the people who were tortured by Assad…. And my anger for @TulsiGabbard defending him grows hotter.

Every senator that votes yes on her is complicit

This is exactly right. Trump’s big advantage is that he’s playing tic-tac-toe without a pencil but somehow convinces people he’s multiverse time-travel chess.
There’s a narrative that Gaetz was a deliberate head-fake — a distraction to boost the real candidate — but I am always suspicious of narratives that attribute four-dimensional chess to trump as opposed to knocking over the table and eating the checkers.
