Year 5 Day 31 (still): As you sit in the shell of what used to be your favorite coffee shop, nursing the swill that used to be your favorite drink, you come to the conclusion that it will never be the way it was. All you have are fond memories. But that place and that flavor are gone.

Year 5 Day 31: You walk into the old coffee shop almost sheepishly. You order your "new" favorite drink, or rather, the best they have to offer. You change your mind half way through your order. The employee is visibly ignored. You ask yourself what are you still doing here, but finish ordering.

Year 5 Day 30: Your friends want to meet up and offhandedly you mention your old favorite coffee shop. They laugh and say that place is the worst and ask if you still go there. You blush and make excuses but then ask yourself, "Why DO you still go there?"

Year 4 Day 202: You learn from one of the few workers left from your first visit that the shop is under new management, and not of your political leanings. Now that you look around, all of the visibly POC and LGBT workers are gone. You try your favorite drink again. It's even worse than before.

Year 4 Day 201: You've stopped spending so much time at your once favorite coffee shop. Though you still have fond memories of it. Now gift cards are met with awkward smiles. One day, you stop by to find the decor has changed drastically. It went from cozy café to cold industrial. You hate it.

Year 4 Day 143: In the absence of your favorite coffee, you begin to notice other things about the shop that you hadn't realized had changed. It's messier for one thing. On weekends, most of the tables are left dirty. And the women's bathroom is disgusting. It's also a lot noisier now.

Year 4 Day 92: You have tried very hard to adjust to the new ingredients, but the drink just isn't what it used to be. You try other drinks on the menu and while none compare, some are passable and at least when you drink them, you aren't missing what it used to taste like.
