I'm a beef cow
@cowbwz4793.bsky.social
Contemplating the strange human species, & my life as a beef cow.
Biodiversity, ecosystems, extinctions, climate, pollution, plastics, animal rights, sentience, human rights.
Science, systemic change, individual action.

Of course I'm vegan, I'm a cow.
Of course the capitalists are using AI to turn humans into robotic drones. F.W. Taylor must be so envious this tech wasn't available when he was alive.

The vegan human who helps me write my posts says "This No Turkey Crown is just fecking gross. Do they really expect vegans want something that looks like a cooked, dead animal on the dining table!"
I've explained it's probably aimed at people dabbling with plant-based, but they're still raging😳😂

This article fails to mention how laying hens have been selectively bred to produce 300 eggs per year, which causes them horrible physical conditions such as egg retention - caged or free-range.

You don't have to support this cruelty, you can make delicious meals and baked goods without using eggs.

I planted non-native Japanese anemones, not knowing they take over by sending out rhizomes EVERYWHERE! After digging them out & sifting the soil they're still emerging, & will have to keep pulling out the shoots as soon as they emerge, for years.
Non-native plant sales need to be restricted.

This is a similar article - not sure if the link will work because it's gone through a Captcha page

I wonder if the officer spraying that chemical agent realises he could have caused her permanent harm.

These goons haven't been trained properly in the use of riot-control agents, or are deliberately assaulting citizens - of course, both can be true.

Today's competitors in the 'Lets see who can destroy Earth the fastest' race:

the US is winning on oil production, with a special shout out to Brazil, who is determined to catch up to the leaders. Only Russia & China are showing poor performance

It's clear Govts & commerce won't act 'cos they want power & $$, so it has to be up to the people to change e.g. shift to plant-based diet. Problem is campaigners rail against the individual responsibility messaging 'cos it's part of big oil propaganda machine, hence people won't change.

Compare with Nissan Versa top model for $22,385 - lots of comfort and you even get a radio thrown in.
(but 35mpg😱 folks, if you're shopping for a car, please buy one with far better fuel economy than this🙏)

Enlightening article for anybody who has been lulled into the belief that AI will solve more climate issues than it's creating.

Even basic AI is already telling us how to significantly reduce CO2e emissions - but humans don't want to make those changes.

We're not using the answers AI is already giving us - as you point out, humans have to want to make the changes that technology is telling us needs to happen - instead, people are resisting change, and in denial that their consumer choices are part of the problem.

As always, he lies. Just taken this off Vessel Finder.

Humans, animal agriculture loves it that you've all bought into their "Eat Local" marketing ruse, that makes you feel all virtuous when you buy a chunk of locally raised meat.

Sorry, but you've been conned.

Other perceived priorities always push climate to one side -and Environment etc doesn't even get a tab. At one point the BBC had 'Ukraine war', 'Covid', 'Cost of living', and 'Election' tabs before 'Climate' & I kept expecting something else to come along and boot it off entirely.

"Veganism’s growth isn’t happening through marches and megaphones. It’s happening in cafeterias, boardrooms, and hospitals. More than 50% of Americans say they are actively reducing their meat intake... What was once a fringe lifestyle is now a business imperative."

Erm, not surveilling outbreaks caused by Yersinia bacteria. Okay, so I guess we'll know the bubonic plague is in town when we see big red crosses on doors and the words "Lord have mercy on this house"☠️

Have to admit, I did have to take a breath to not come out with my first fun fact of the environmental impact of having a child - that they go through over 3,000 nappies in their first year, and up to 7,000 before they're potty trained - that's a hell of a lot of landfill or incineration.
August 9, 2025 at 5:55 PM
A reply to one of my vegan buddies on here who was politely explaining why being vegan is a moral imperative.

It's incredible how vegans are vilified by simply asking their fellow humans to show compassion to all animals & to be willing to put themselves out a bit to end animal suffering.

I've just checked, and the island of Lewis and Harris, where the people who do this killing live, has two large grocery stores, & people who live there will get UK benefits if they're struggling to put food on the table.
They don't subsist on gannet chick meat.

I love ponds, such incredibly complex ecosystems.

Humans adding ponds to their land & yards creates desperately needed habitat - but I'm concerned that many are made with plasticised liners, that will leach toxins & eventually break down into microplastics.

Celebrating beef ranching in 1982. Of course, as soon as humans realised how destructive raising cows for food is to the environment & climate, they immediately st... oops, scratch that, they just continued regardless because culture, tradition, animal ag capitalism, & selfish consumer choices.

This is the European Mouflon - a wild sheep which was mostly the species from which humans have created modern commercial sheep. When you see farmed animals gradually changing through selective breeding, it's easy to forget how far they've been changed from their wild ancestors.

Summary top-ten consumption changes households can make to impact climate change.
Shifting to plant-based diet will significantly reduce impact farming has on habitat loss & species extinctions.
It didn't research/discuss amount of unnecessary stuff people buy.

Thank you @theguardian.com for stating that the wetter, warmer weather is "caused by the climate emergency".

If humans are going to take meaningful action, all MSM needs to frankly inform the public when events are the consequence of global heating & habitat destruction - & how humans cause these.
June 30, 2025 at 3:41 PM
If I told you there is one action you could take that would significantly & immediately reduce your climate & environmental footprint - but it might be a bit inconvenient for you - would you make the change?

This endangered Jaguar would like to know your answer.
