Think about what the GOP is revealing with their attempt to suddenly change the Congressional maps: they know their agenda is so unpopular that they're going to lose unless something changes.

Of course, what they should be changing is their policies, not the maps.

A MAGA extremist assassinated Minnesota lawmakers last night.

Governor Walz insisted everyone stay home and not protest, as the assassin is still on the loose and credibly may have intended to harm protesters.

Organizers cancelled.

Tens upon tens of thousands of Minnesotans showed up anyway.

We came, we saw, we cheered our brave & righteous attorney general.

Looked like thousands of people by the time we left a few minutes ago. Among all the signs (Abolish ICE / Free Palestine / Protect Trans Kids / #NoKings / Due Process, etc) I wish I’d gotten a photo of the guy wearing this shirt

I am shaking and crying. This is not the Minnesota you and I grew up in and love. And this is not the country that we grew up in and love. We are in a dark, dark time.

It should not be lost on anyone that Minnesota Rep Melissa Hortman, who was shot to death in her home last night by an assassin, was a gun safety advocate who worked tirelessly to protect her constituents from gun violence.

Horrifying news out of Minnesota this morning as political violence takes the lives of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark. @Chasten and I are holding their loved ones in our hearts and praying for State Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette as they recover.

Out of an abundance of caution my Department of Public Safety is recommending that people do not attend any political rallies today in Minnesota until the suspect is apprehended.

Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband have both died.

Perhaps the most depressing part about the last couple of months is that every awful shitty thing that’s happening to this country is self-induced. People asked for this. None of it had to happen.

I’m just glad Merrick Garland can sleep well knowing he followed norms and traditions!
