Anyone working in four will readily admit that when we try to visualise it, we just imagine three dimensions and say quietly to ourselves “but 4D”.

Like, average WaPo columnist can see the end game. That’s a communication victory! You want this in the background when the strategy works and you play for negotiating an end to partisan control of districting.

Bad blame framing but isn’t some of the point of fighting fire with fire showing that the net partisan benefit is nil and it can therefore be abandoned in favour of neutral/independent commissions? You can’t skip straight there but I think you can take this as evidence you’ve moved the conversation.

Try making jokes about beating them, not joining them

I am shocked at that reply. No problem, just fly the red flag and do the salute and the brown shirts might skip your house??

In this corner of Bluesky… in the replies to your particular tweet… I guess you’re never safe from cowardice.

Off topic English tip for Europeans

“Control” is a false friend, despite being used this way in many European languages. Use “inspect” instead. As a compound noun it works (“passport control”) but it is not used for this as a verb.

I don't really think it was blank

Also, he dropped the whole thing on the ground when he opened the folder to display his signature. Starmer had to pick the pages up for him.

While legal letter was whiny but correct, this is 5 stars. Go regain control of the NG units using authority you still have and then tell em to arrest you. bsky.app/profile/atru...
Newsom: "Arrest me. Let's just get it over with, tough guy. I don't give a damn ... Tom, arrest me. Let's go."

The are line dancing in the middle of the protest while shouting Fuck ICE

Less than 45 minutes after President Donald Trump thanked the National Guard "for a job well done!" Mayor Karen Bass clarified on social media "the National Guard has not been deployed in the City of Los Angeles."

This is one goal: have the administration lose face. They won’t admit it and they will try again, but you will show everyone around you that they aren’t a force to be afraid of. bsky.app/profile/jame...
if your putative allies — local cops — decide that the unrest just isn’t worth it, you’ve lost face. if your goons are impotent in the face of the crowds, you’ve lost face. (2/?)

Unfortunately it will work on half of you. You can’t turn the tide against this by feeling grim and stewing. Stewing is not contagious.

Dismantle the imagery and strip it back. The kitted-out, fearsome soldiers are going to be following orders dribbled into a 50-person group chat monitored by the Chinese called “Patriot Updates USA 🫡” by Stephen Miller. It would be embarrassing for this dweeb to successfully mollify you.
June 8, 2025 at 7:48 AM
The president wants the protests to get more violent and scary, and this is nefarious. But the headline should be that Mr big strongman is scared, because he is, and that’s funny. Laughing at it neutralises it. Laugh at him. Americans do not know how to laugh at themselves. Now’s the time to learn!

NYT A/B tests their headlines. You and I could look at an article at the exact same time and see different headlines. There’s no shared understanding of how they present a story at all.
June 4, 2025 at 4:45 PM
Actually serving different headlines to different people simultaneously is just the cherry on top. I don’t want to see a different fucking newspaper from the person next to me.
June 4, 2025 at 1:55 AM
You don’t get this BS from the Financial Times. They publish a story and it generally stays there for the day. You know what their take is and you can refer back to it later. I often don’t share an NYT piece because I can literally never find it again. Just vanishes. So much for a paper of record.
June 4, 2025 at 1:53 AM
I knew they changed headlines up to 10x in a day, which has always bothered me because you think it’s a new story. Of course blind user studies confirm this ups their clicks. But it is shitty and you never get a straight answer for what NYT thought was important today. Just a revolving door.
