Yet more evidence that social media companies don't give a damn about societal well-being or harms falsehoods do - they only care about keeping users engaged for profit. We should look at SM companies same way we view tobacco firms

Yet more evidence that social media companies don't give a damn about societal well-being or harms falsehoods do - they only care about keeping users engaged for profit. We should look at SM companies same way we view tobacco firms

Profoundly disappointing that the @irishtimes.bsky.social would run a puff piece on an utterly unqualified influencer who puts vulnerable people at risk with their incessant scaremongering. Especially poor form that dieticians who repeatedly expressed their concerns were ignored..

Why is RFK Jr such a disaster for public health? Because when you sacrifice public health at the altar of conspiracy theory, innocent people die - just remember Thabo Mbeki's AIDs denial policy let 350,000 innocent painfully and needlessly..

Everyday I'm asked about nonsense claims by concerned smart people completely unaware that the source of the claim is clearly unreliable, & that a check on Wikipedia would debunk it. Improving our media literacy would really help us with disinformation..
