The Gazette did a bunch of coverage, rightfully skeptical. They talked to Browning in Sept. 1990: cedarrapids.advantage-preservation.com/viewer/?k=ea...

I do vaguely remember him, or others like him, occasionally bubbling up and saying that New Madrid was ready to shake. This one was caught fire more than usual, I guess, because Browning claimed to have gotten lucky on one or more in the past. Thus, media attention, people buying insurance, etc.

Perhaps more fun is the allusion at the end of look-back news story: a reference to the ground shaking. It was also on December 3, 1990 (or the 2nd) that a guy named Iben Browning predicted a devastating earthquake would happen on the New Madrid fault. This did not happen, but it caused a stir!

Inadvertent Vikings watcher here, they're really just up a creek in any case at this point. McCarthy was the hope (not sure why, based on his Michigan career) and that hope is deflating. Should just tank.

Probably would have been targeting on that play by the Iowa tackler but the new definition of the crown of the helmet being a 6 inch diameter from the top is just too small.

Oof, yeah I can't blame you. The weekend ones always stick in my mind more. Unexpectedly cloudy Thursday doesn't hit as hard.

Made sure to tell the newer meteorologists that it will happen, it will suck, and you just kind of have to accept that.

As far as I can tell, it may, MAY be related to the "Twilight" novels and movies. That's the only explanation as to why the name would start climbing in popularity around 2005.

Game turned in the 3rd quarter when the rain let up, so this still holds.
