Some terrain is better then no terrain but after that basic is covered, bespoke per encounter custom terrain adds like 10% to the final fun, max.
Save it for climatic fights, & have a life.

Mantic does some nice cheap terrain including an alien jungle set which I love. It comes with magnet holes so you can have a nice dense forest but pluck the trees off when they get in the way of models.

Practicality is essential but there are some options to avoid sacrificing density entirely.
