Mantic does some nice cheap terrain including an alien jungle set which I love. It comes with magnet holes so you can have a nice dense forest but pluck the trees off when they get in the way of models.

Practicality is essential but there are some options to avoid sacrificing density entirely.

Just back from a weekend of #larp which I helped write and run while also portraying a number of NPCs (spare a kind thought for the late Dr T. Arget — the unarmed, unethical MD who was shot in the back while fleeing from armed players with his hands up).
It’s me! Not that you can tell under the Predator (as in the classic movie of the same name) costume.

I have some treasonous stuff on my painting table right now (and would rather be working on it for the next couple of hours than being at my desk working).
A classic Rhino, bought over a decade ago, in the ivory and green colour scheme of Heresy-era Death Guard (although it still awaits shading, detailing, and weathering). It has doors with Death Guard symbology moulded on.

There have been a lot of #Warhammer rules previews and leaks of late.
A group of blind men heard that a strange animal, called an elephant, had been brought to the town, but none of them were aware of its shape and form. Out of curiosity, they said: "We must inspect and know it by touch, of which we are capable". So, they sought it out, and when they found it they groped about it. The first person, whose hand landed on the trunk, said, "This being is like a thick snake". For another one whose hand reached its ear, it seemed like a kind of fan. As for another person, whose hand was upon its leg, said, the elephant is a pillar like a tree-trunk. The next blind man (who was a Warhammer fan) said the elephant, "is terrible and Games Workshop hates us".

The best yellow is gold.

It’s hard to pick between Helen Mirren and, her successor, Richard Coyle.

The cliffhanger where she fell prey to The Master’s machinations and then regenerated into a duplicate of him was among the most memorable of the show’s history.

When it came to mutations I sometimes just went in straight with a colour (sometimes something really bold, and sometimes a pastel) but on some of the models I took advantage of how good speedpaint is at wet blending, so I have a couple of nice transitions in there.
A mutatent with a squid-like appendage where the right torso, shoulder, and arm should be. It starts of red close to the more human parts of the creature but transitions to a rich orange along the tentacles.

Only after packing these away did I notice that I'd missed the beard on the guy at the back. Going back and putting some colour down there is a job for next year.

Show me your #Warhammer40k Space Marine pauldrons. I challenge you to find a better design than the Mk VI.

With the new Angels of Death #KillTeam rules out, I thought I’d pick some of the partially painted Space Marines off the pile and make some process on them so I’d have more options.

They’ve been so relaxing that I’ve ended up with quite a lot of progress towards getting my #Warhammer40K list done.
