Still haven't found a book that hits my feels like my favorite fanfics—which for the record are:

Had this crazy idea last night that I should try writing a romantic YA book for my own 14 year-old self. That is—A gender role reversal paranormal romance.

Because as a boy I was always drawn to romance, and I thought I was straight, but I just wished romantic/sexual scripts were reversed.

I don't really know how to explain my preference for queer vs. het romance (fan)fiction, other than by showing you side-by-side ship fanart:

het (Feysand) vs wlw (Catradora)
het (Viorson) vs fujo-mlm (Superbat)

A piece of writing advice I've always loved is "write what you know". But there's a concern that this would limit you from writing a diverse array of characters. Well, I think if you introspect and empathize hard enough, you'll find each type of person exists as a facet within you

Friendly Counterpoint!

"Freedom is the enemy of creativity, limitations are its Saviour"

I actually love the constraints of an already existing world. I love to think about what I would do If I were tasked with writing my favorite characters in comics or like the MCU
if you worldbuild first suddenly there are so many options that are not available to you because your work is constrained by a set of rules created in isolation from a story, before you could possibly know if they would make for an interesting moment or provoke interesting conflict

Wicked, by Gregory Maguire is a pretty good book, but don't expect a AAA story. Expect a work of Literary Fantasy that isn't as worried about telling a gripping story as it is interested in exploring ideas through a fantasy world.

Hmm. Storygraph seems like a cool idea, but I don't love the execution.

I can only have a few books on my TBR list?

I can't rate books I mark as DNF?

Taking a break from my 3 capeshit/Romantasy WIPs to artfully word-vomit all the daydreams I've been having about my 4th WIP that is neither Capeshit, nor Romantasy.

Just contemporary romance. Perhaps Litfic if I'm letting my ego show.
