Was a grassroots co-operator (Suma, Ale House, Tangram, ICOM), then spent prime of life promoting social economy at EU level (AEIDL). Oscillate between Brussels & Amsterdam. Very keen on trams and real ale.

🇪🇺 The European project was, and still is, the greatest antidote to nationalism and tyranny that our continent ever created.
Never have we needed it more.

Now, it is our turn to resist and take this peace project further. Stronger, greener, more united and more democratic.

A View from Airstrip One – part 5 – On Paralysis
When you look at the big picture, humanity is seriously stuck. Large segments are addicted to the consumption of ever more stuff; poorer nations envy us and aspire to the same; the end result is gl…

It had to happen. Having spent an agonising week including a trip to Liverpool to replace my lost passport, I have just found my old one - safe and sound in the door pocket of the car of course.

I'm optimistic that Bluesky is going to be the one. Mind you I can still remember Facebook when it was warm and fluffy - whereas nowadays it is a rare exception when I recognise anyone. 10 days after joining Buesky I have 3 friends but am hoping this grows exponentially, like it didn't on Mastodon.

'fietsstraten' would be more elegant
In the Netherlands Fietsstraats (bicycle streets) prioritize cyclists by removing through motor traffic, with red asphalt used to signal to motorists that bicycles have priority on these streets. This ensures safety for families cycling, without danger from too much, or too fast, motor traffic.

Dedicated cycle paths are excellent. I wonder how I have survived into my 70s when I used to cycle to school and work on ordinary mixed-use roads, mixing it with motorised traffic. Top tip: car drivers need to slow down, basically.
Any suggestions for books, toys, or experiments to buy for two boys who love math and science and are ages 8 and 10?

They’re a bit advanced so it’s okay if it’s for kids slightly older.
