I always recommend Richard Russo books. Empire Falls is my favorite.

If it makes you feel better I've only met Derp once in a parking lot while we exchanged beer that I'm pretty sure you would make fun of.

On the plus side I am still hanging out with the guy who was our mutual who introduced us. He's been my homie since we were 5.

I was doom scrolling yesterday and all the sudden a fella that looked too much like Joe came across the old video feed and I was not ready.

I should be hanging out with him on Wednesday as was custom for the day before Thanksgiving. This sucks.

@lmtpod.city I sincerely could not understand if Sam agreed with me or not. I *think* he did because it was, to my mind, just like the pen given to Arsenal because Ederson fouled whoever after the shot.

The biggest shock would be Bellingham, but Tuchel doesn't seem to get along with him so you never know. Otherwise if you told me 1-2 of the other 3 got left behind I wouldn't be too surprised. Rogers and Palmer seem most likely left off out of the 4 with Foden slightly more surprising.
November 23, 2025 at 7:07 PM
I agree with everything you said. I just think that Rogers is the least likely of the 4 to start. I don't even know if all 4 make the final roster because that's a lot of dudes that all occupy the same area that Kane likes to work in. It wouldn't shock me if 1-2 of them don't get called. (1/2)
November 23, 2025 at 7:07 PM
I think he's probably the best of the 4 in the doing unglamorous defensive work and probably general work rate. I think that absolutely gives him a chance, but I also think his technical ability, while great, is pretty far below the others. He probably maximizes Kane because he doesn't need the ball
November 23, 2025 at 6:12 PM
He has to be the least likely option between those four though, right?

I have liked having Donnarumma more than I anticipated because I'm a sicko for Ederson's ball playing. Stuff like this where his passing is mediocre and others where it is bad (the one to Foden early) infuriate me.

I was NOT fine with the result. I wasn't unhappy with the performance, but I didn't like the way it ended or the way it was refereed. To be clear, the ref wasn't why they lost, but allowing so much physicality without booking anyone was more beneficial to Newcastle.

That this was at Anfield makes it even funnier. A Sean Dyche classic.

That's a bad drawing of a number of people we went to high school with.
November 20, 2025 at 12:37 AM
That has to be part of it too. It's very hard to have the luck & game state go your way if the goalkeeper is making boners.
November 19, 2025 at 3:58 AM
My hope is that they can get to the knockouts and then have some ball go goal and game state stuff that gets them deep. Competent press + US talent level + luck/game state can probably get them to the last 8?

I think with Felix his pre-peak was good enough it's just when he was done he was all the way done and had basically zero tail.

Bodie and McNulty in the cemetery.

I'll do what I gotta, I don't give a fuck. Just don't ask me to live on my fuckin knees.

I was recently at my alma mater and something like 95% of those students looked so young. Like, they were all still kids.
