This tiny device can shrink dangerous blood clots. It’s called the ‘milli-spinner’ and its invention was partly an accident…

My column in today’s @irishexaminer.bsky.social on men and masculinity, sparked by the new Netflix series Adolescence.

The show raises urgent questions about boyhood, violence, and what it means to grow up male today’s world.

Starting in January 2025, various government health datasets were removed, restored, manipulated, or not posted as planned. The authors of a new Perspective write that the consequences of these changes could be far-reaching. Read the full Perspective: nej.md/4bYvujL

Interested in the timely research on the deeply unfortunate phenomena surrounding modern masculinity and male mental health, causing such misdirected & destructive reactivity right now, follow @conorhammersley.bsky.social
Also, #Mayo4Sam. Maybe message him when Mayo win the All-Ireland…
Welcome to Bluesky @connomora.bsky.social -- a Mayo/Cork native and Biophysics graduate from Columbia University, with a sharp eye for contemporary society -- do give him a follow; but maybe unfollow him if Mayo win the All-Ireland!

Dear British students – Please learn German! It's a beautiful, rich & useful language & you can compete to make the longest compound noun. Mine is "'Weltpolitikfähigkeitverlustvermeidungsstrategie'".
47 letters (& yes, it does make sense).

Fabulous piece on the exciting and urgent potentials of so much ongoing science and innovation from someone who directly understands the implications of his work.
Growing up in Ghana, Kwasi Adu-Berchie contracted malaria almost every year. Kwasi fully recovered, but he knows not everyone is so lucky.

So, if Kwasi could #ReimagineTheWorld, people would not die from infections that are treatable in other parts of the world.
Read and listen to Kwasi's story.

I still remember the excitement on first discovering #Pubmed when I was 14. To be able access, explore and play around with a database of so many peer reviewed publications, even if you didn’t belong to an institution, was such a thrill. It would be terrible for others to not have that opportunity.
I've been unable to access #eRACommons today. #NIH (nih.gov), #PubMed, #PMC, and several NIH institute pages (including #NHLBI) do load but then drop a few minutes later, #RePORTER searches take forever etc...

Anybody else having the same issue??

This is a gut-wrenching, beautifully written essay. A doctor must watch helplessly as children die because USAID's freeze on aid has limited access to nutritional supplements. time.com/7258248/us-f...

“To my patients and their mothers, I offered apologies from the American people,” writes Dr. Jennifer Furin.
