The thing I like about Xabungle is, it's very deliberately low-tech and easy to grasp. You don't need awareness of a whole mythology - hell, you just need to know that moving pictures = anime ("manga" at the time), and radiation/war = bad!

This is probably the mechanism by which American films, made in an American context and requiring an American upbringing to fully understand, never ever never do well outside of the USA. /s

one of the most incomprehensible to me things that a lot of people appear to believe about pop culture is that a bad movie can be made good if its supplementary material is good, or that it is somehow OK to make a movie that demands you to watch hours of other material to make sense

I'm working on a story wherein two spirit-powered fisticuffs troubleshooters wake up in a podunk drunk tank after destroying the town pub following their smashing a cult. They can't leave and so have to make ends meet by taking jobs at a bakery. Then they buy the bakery and kill a god.

Godzilla, King of the Monsters! (1956) made those kinds of monster movies possible in the US. But while Gojira (1954) was a serious film - and the redub understood this, to its credit - the B-movie schlock the US in particular made in its wake lack its desire to spread a message.

I think it's a real shame no one's cosplayed as one of the Metal Slug characters, say as Marco, and brought along their dog in a Metal Slug SV-001 costume.

I'm surprised the wait was that long before, actually.
Very proud to announce the Department of Health will now process all requests to change gender designation on birth certificates within three business days. Previously, there was as much as a 10 month wait.
