Once at a conference a participant was interviewed and asked what book they had most recently read. The participant said he didn’t know the title but remembered it being good. The interviewer could’ve moved on but asked what the book was about. His answer was essentially “books … are important.”
I met Justice Thomas once and when he found out what I did he said “ah yes, history … is important” and then immediately pivoted away, ending the exchange without another word.
